This video was intended for all prospective Kindergarten families of 2023. We are currently working on a video for our prospective Kindergarten families for 2024. Stay tuned and check back! In this video, you will hopefully find some answers to questions, find out how to register, and be provided with a glimpse of our day here at Holy Cross.

we would like to extend a very warm welcome to all new kindergarten students will be starting at Holy Cross in September 2023 we hope that this video will answer your questions give you information about our kindergarten program as well as what to expect as a child transitions to school in this presentation we will provide a glimpse of some of the many wonderful learn opportunities your child will experience in kindergarten toward the end of this video we will provide details on how to register and ways that you can stay connected with our school via social media as a follow-up to this presentation went to have some your child's registration on Thursday May 25th 2023 you will be invited to attend an in-person welcome to kindergarten event Holy Cross Catholic School part of the Catholic District School Board of eastern Ontario are board game until 2024 is I belong here together we are God's good news it renews the promise that we live by the example of Jesus in our face dinner options at Holy Cross and in all CVS Veo schools bicol creates and recreates basis of the longing for all students staff and Families Miss Julia Jasper School principal and Miss Tracy Clary vice principal make it a priority to ensure that all students feel that they belong in our positive School community Holy Cross is a kindergarten to grade six school and we offered to Pathways for French programming our French immersion program offers a 50-50 split of English in French language instruction through do not need any prior knowledge of French before joining the immersion program in kindergarten we also provide a quart English program which focuses on English literacy skills and introduces basic French words we currently have for kindergarten classes at Holy Cross but this could change for next year depending on our enrolment in all kindergarten classrooms whether it's French immersion or core French programming there is a team made up of a awesome teacher and an early childhood educator or BCE BECU remains with the class for the full day every day your child will have an English teacher and a French teacher amount of time the French teacher spending your child specific classroom will be based on which French program your child is in for emergence to denounce the French teachers with the class half the day students who are in a quart French program receive approximately 30 minutes of French instruction per day we are delighted to introduce you to the teachers and he sees we currently have in our kindergarten program at Holy Cross teachers and he sees work in collaboration to co-create the Daily program and to provide a healthy physical social an emotional learning environment they work together to observe and assess your child's progress and success and they work diligently to communicate updates to our families you will now take you on a virtual journey to show you are learning spaces when you enter school there are three paths to take you to different areas of the building immediately to the right you will find the main office directly in front of our main office is if we turn left in this main hallway you begin your journey down the long hallway to all of our classrooms and to the library in the middle section of our school close to the library you'll find our for kindergarten rooms for this year all of the rooms have individual Cubbies for students to keep their own belongings in addition each classroom has a thing for easy access to hand washing and clean up through the day bathrooms can be found either directly side or directly across from the room depending which room your child may be in over kindergarten classrooms have tables that are strategically placed where students can work at their centres play and have the space to eat snack or their lunch all of these tables are clean throughout the school day outside kindergarten 2 have their own fenced yard as well as their own age-appropriate play structure there's ample room for running and for imaginative play in addition there is a learning Garden where students can spend time Outdoors engaging in different activities during each season kindergarten students have access to our gymnasium two times per week for they play games that work on their gross motor skills and cooperation skills are kindergarten enjoy going to the gym for the ample space to run and burn some of their Creative Energy the gym is also where we hold School assemblies and Faith liturgy students also access to our library which contains many books at all levels for students to read and enjoy each year holy cross hold the Scholastic Book Fair which raises money to purchase new books for all students tomorrow and for our staff to share in their classroom the core of the kindergarten program is to establish a strong foundation for learning in the early years and we do so in a caring play based developmentally appropriate environment why do children to grow and to learn in their unique individual ways as children learn through play an inquiry they develop and have the opportunity to practice everyday or Educators respond by observing listening asking questions providing feedback and engaging your child and conversation to move a child forward in their physical social emotional and cognitive learning are kindergarten program Baytown for frames of learning the guide planning and assessment they are belonging and contributing self-regulation and well-being demonstrating literacy in mathematics behaviours and problem-solving intimidating this list highlight some of the many foundations of learning that are explored through at the two-year kindergarten program our Catholic faith in fuses all that we do we offer an education that lives by the example of Jesus Christ and is inspired by his teachings we transform the world with joy kindness and peace for Catholic Education the religious education program in God's image aims to provide with a positive sense of their own self-worth it is only an appreciation of when stuff that we can open up ourselves fully to God another important integrated focus at Holy Cross indigenous education Holy Cross respects and recognizes the rich diversity of First Nations metis and Inuit histories cultures perspectives and contribution all students will engage in stories and a fish Bishop traditions and contemporary ways of knowing that honour indigenous people Outdoor Learning is a priority at Holy Cross and we are fortunate to have the outdoor space to explore and and and many outdoor activities for kindergarten team Embraces these outdoor experiences and our Outdoor Classroom as well as in our Learning Garden Additionally the forest which is really the trees on the church property beside us provide which offered ideas for students to develop their problem-solving skills and to use their imagination here are a few snapshots of daily life in kindergarten Here at Holy Cross if you have not yet registered for September please use the following information to get started registration links can be found on this video or you can visit our school website to access the registration link on the main cdsco page eligible Junior kindergarten students will be 4 years old by December 31st 2023 students who are turning 5 years old but Timber 31st 2023 are eligible for senior kindergarten we registered the main office will contact you to provide the following documentation if your child is not tablets please complete the request for admission of non Catholic Student non-catholic students are welcome at TDS Bo schools on a space-available basis at this time there is space available please get your registration in as soon as possible student transportation of eastern Ontario has provided us with many resources on their website for kindergarten you can also find a link to these resources on our Holy Cross web page when you register with Holy Cross we send your information to co to arrange transportation on your behalf towards the end of the summer steel will communicate bus stop times I'm okay to All Families we will also share the link to the bus stop finder on Theo's website on our social media here at Holy Cross when the schedules are complete in order to sure you stay connected to Holy Cross please bookmark the school website as we will be continuing to add on
