I am pleased to announce that the Rainbows for All God’s Children Grief Support Program will be offered again starting in February here at Holy Cross Catholic School.  These grief support groups are designed for students in grades 1 to 6 who are experiencing separation, divorce or a death of an immediate family member.  We meet once per week, during class time for up to 12 weeks.

When something significant happens in a family, the entire family is affected.  Even though death, divorce or loss appear to be only grown up problems, they have a profound effect on the children touched by these experiences.  If a loved one dies, or a divorce occurs, not only do the parents grieve, the children do also.  Because of their age and short life experience, children find it extremely difficult to verbalize their feelings of grief.

I hope to assist your child to express and understand his/her feelings, to feel acceptance for what has happened, and to know that they are not alone in what they feel.  This will be accomplished through channels of peer support with a nurturing facilitator to guide them and provide a secure place to share themselves.

If they are interested, you or your child can contact me at the school on Mondays or Wednesdays to request an application/permission form that must be completed with your child, signed and returned to the school by February 5th.

If you have any further questions, please contact me at school at 613-258-7457.
